COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW) -- Governor Nikki Haley has declared a State of Emergency for South Carolina due to the oncoming winter weather.
The South Carolina Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) has been activated at at Operation Condition 3 (OpCon 3). That is the state's preparedness level a disaster or emergency situation is likely.
Gov. Haley has ordered all state government offices to follow county government closing decisions, meaning if a county administration decides to close for the day, state offices in that county will automatically follow the same schedule.
Crews are already out salting streets throughout the state. Roadway conditions are expected to be extremely hazardous, and emergency crews urge drivers to stay off the roads if possible.
S.C. National Guard soldiers are standing by to assist first responders and state agencies should additional support be needed.
