AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Some roadwork scheduled for this week could cause delays during your commute.
The south outside lane of State Route 56/Doug Bernard Parkway (mile marker 6 to 7) will be closed until Monday, Oct. 1, while crews work on sewer issues. The Georgia Department of Transportation says to expect delays.
The lane of the west exit 10 off-ramp from Interstate 520 will be narrowed for shoulder work Monday through Thursday. Work is scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Drivers could also see single lane closures Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews mow along State Route 56 and State Route 383.
In Columbia County, a nighttime closure is scheduled for the inside eastbound lane of I-20 between mile markers 193 and 194 (State Route 383/Belair Road) while crews make repairs on the overpass. This will start on Wednesday at 9 p.m. and continue through Thursday at 5 a.m.
The railroad crossing at Laney Walker Boulevard between New Savannah Road and 7th Street will be closed on Wednesday to replace a broken rail. It is estimated to reopen by 4 p.m. Drivers can use 7th Street, New Savannah Road and 5th Street as detours.
