RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- A woman has been charged with two counts of deprivation of a minor after an officer said her kids were left at a bus stop for more than four hours.
The officer was able to contact the mother on Nov. 4 at 7:50 p.m. after the kids were dropped off 3:45 p.m. According to an incident report, the 7 and 8-year-olds were left at the bus stop multiple times.
Elizabeth Ann Leaphart, the mother, said she believed her children were already picked up by a family member or friend.
After meeting the officer at 8 p.m., Leaphart said she had previously asked an 11-year-old to ask his parents' permission to play with her children after school, according to the report. The officer told her she should have talked to a parent instead of the 11-year-old.
Leaphart, 34, was taken into custody and the children were originally sent with a DHS Division of Family and Children Services case worker.
