AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Investigators are still looking for answers in an afternoon shooting at an Augusta Mobile Home Park.
It happened in broad daylight in the middle of the day with kids all over the streets.
It's the second shooting in just two weeks at Augusta Estates off Milledgeville Road.
The last shooting left one person dead. Luckily, Thursday's was not as serious, with the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the leg, but neighbors say it could have been a lot worse.
It was just around lunchtime when Cartina Brown heard gunshots ring out down the street.
"We started running," she explained. "Everybody panicking, getting their children."
Many of the neighborhood children were heading down to the playground for a lunch brought to the neighborhood by a local church.
"Some of the kids was going there, and next thing you know, the shots rang out and this lady in the back, she had to get all the kids and take them in her house," Brown said.
"When they started arguing, everybody was just getting the kids out of the way," added neighbor Lacheldra Swinney.
Swinney lives just down the street from where the shooting happened.
"My child went through my head because he plays on this street," she said. "You know there's a lot of kids on this street."
The shooting happened in a breezeway.
Deputies say two guys got into an argument in the street and as they began to fight, one of the men's girlfriends walked out of the home holding a gun and firing shots.
One of the men also pulled a gun, firing his own shot as he ran. That shot hit the other man in the leg.
"It could've hit anybody," said Anna Dixon, who was in the neighborhood when the shooting happened. "It could've hit a child, a newborn, people were running around from over there. It could've been anybody. It could be you, me, a child, my kids, anybody."
Just two weeks ago, another man was shot and killed in the same mobile home park just a few homes down. Deputies say they have no reason to believe the two incidents are related, but they plan to increase patrols in the area.
"This is not the first time this has happened, this is not the second time this has happened, this is not the third time it's happened, this is not the fourth time it's happened," Brown said. "So, basically, now somebody needs to get out here and do something about it."
Now Brown and her neighbors are asking management and the park owner to step in before it get's worse.
"I want my child to play," Swinney said. "It's summertime. He's supposed to be able to play. Not be in the house scared because somebody's gonna get shot."
The victim was released from the hospital, but deputies say because of the conflicting statements they received, they were unable to determine who was actually the suspect and who was the victim, so they will be charging all three people involved.
Investigators say 26-year-old Tiffany Lewis, 28-year-old Marcus Hilliard and 28-year-old Lewis Harmon are all being charged with reckless conduct. Harmon is also charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- About two weeks after a man was murdered at Augusta Estates, investigators were called to another shooting on Thursday.
Deputies say two men were arguing in the parking lot when the girlfriend of one of the men walked outside and started firing. The second man allegedly pulled out a gun as well, hitting the woman's boyfriend in the leg.
The man who was shot was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Deputies say they plan on increasing patrols since this is the second recent shooting in the area.
