BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- The standoff with a wanted man in Burke County ended on Wednesday night without any injuries.
The Richmond County SWAT team was called in to help Burke County officers in the standoff with 34-year-old Paul Fontenot.
Fontenot had an active warrant from an aggravated assault case in Jefferson County on March 15. Investigators say he brutally beat someone who had to be taken to the hospital.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office came to Burke County looking for him since he was supposedly living with his girlfriend, Hanu Yi.
Deputies made contact with Yi and could see Fontenot inside the home, but they say Yi would not open the door or come to the door.
Two children, a 7-year-old female and a 10-year-old boy, were inside the home during the standoff.
The Wadley Police Department came out to the scene and confirmed Yi was involved in the beating that happened on March 15.
Fontenot and Yi were both taken into custody and are being held at the Burke County Jail.
Yi is facing hindrance of arrest and child endangerment since the SWAT team had to go in with children present.
Fontenot also is facing child endangerment charges. He has an extensive criminal history, including multiple armed robberies, burglaries, false imprisonment, weapons charges and felony arrests. He's also got multiple misdemeanor warrants out of Richmond County.
