UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal fire on Apricot Lane

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The victim in a fatal house fire over the weekend on Apricot Lane has been identified.

Carl Glymph, 92, was wrapped in a blanket sitting close to a space heater. Investigators say it appears the blanket caught fire.

Glymph's cause of death has not yet been determined.

The three others inside the home manged to get out safely. Two were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation but are expected to be OK. One of the survivors of the fire old News 12 that he tried to save the Glymph but the smoke in the home was too intense and he had to save his own life.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has learned that an elderly man is dead after a house fire on Apricot Lane in Augusta.

Augusta-Richmond County fire crews responded to the house fire on the 2400 block of Apricot Lane near Augusta National around 5:56 p.m. Saturday.

Four people were in the home at the time of the fire, but only three manged to get out safely. Two were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation but are expected to be OK.

One of the survivors of the fire tells News 12 that he tried to save the victim but the smoke in the home was too intense and he had to save his own life.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was found at the back of the home.

The fire was fully involved and the home is completely destroyed.

There is no word on a possible cause.
