Update: Richmond County deputy injured on Boy Scout Road during investigation

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A Richmond County Deputy was injured at the Knights Inn on Boy Scout Road.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Jason Cunningham was searching the motel after an employee reported suspicious activity near one of the rooms.

While interviewing an unidentified man wearing a white tank top, blue jean shorts and dreaded hair, jumped a fence . Before the deputy could follow him, another unidentified man hit the deputy in the back of the head.

Cunningham was treated for a minor concussion and released from University Hospital.

Investigators say deputies and dogs searched for two suspects along Boy Scout Road, Washington Road, Claussen Road and Center West Parkway, however the suspects were not found.
