AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Students, teachers and parents have enjoyed Lamar-Milledge Elementary since the school year started.
However, on Wednesday night, they were proud to showcase it to the county, board members and the superintendent. Even though all the seats were not taken in the school cafeteria for the program, the energy level and excitement was contagious. Faculty, students and teachers were all proud and ready to tell folks about their new school.
Superintendent Frank Roberson made an appearance and addressed the crowd, surprising them with a spelling test.
Even with the jokes and laughs, Dr. Roberson still had a serious message for parents.
"Forever stay engaged with your children in the learning process. Be your child's teachers partner. That's critically important," he said.
And even though the night was all about fun, Principal Raye Robertson said it's back to business for students.
