Report: Baby born with cocaine in her system; mother arrested

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- A North Augusta mother was charged after a report said she gave birth to a daughter who had cocaine in her system.

Taisha Bowen, 38, gave birth at GRU and the child tested positive for cocaine, a North Augusta Department of Public Safety report said. The complainant told officers Bowen's hair follicle also tested positive for cocaine in February.

Bowen was charged with unlawful neglect of a child. Bowen's out on a $3,000 bond. According to South Carolina Department of Social Services, the child is with another family member, North Augusta DPS said.
