AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Georgia Board of Regents has voted to confirm the consolidation of Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences University.
The two schools have combined to form Georgia Regents University.
The board recommended the consolidation back in January, approved the mission statement for the "New U" in May and the name GRU in August.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges will visit GRU in the fall to make sure the "New U" is following accreditation standards.
