AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- It was a hectic scene in Washington Square Friday evening.
"It was like living and watching CSI right here in Augusta, Georgia," said Melanie Carter, who works at The Country Club.
She makes her way to the club every Friday and Saturday night, but this Friday, she arrived to something different.
"I usually park in the same area, and last night, I wasn't able to park because of all the Richmond County Police," she said.
Today, Carter's standing less than 20 feet away from where deputies found an unidentified body.
She started asking questions and quickly got answers.
"I said, 'What's going on?' Carter said. "They said, 'We just walked by a body in that red vehicle.'"
And soon, it began to spread throughout the shopping center.
"I ain't never seen anything like this; I've lived in Augusta for most of my life," she said.
But Carter doesn't understand how something like this could happen.
"All these people walking by this car, and no one saw it," she said.
Especially in a place where it's always so busy.
"For this to be the shopping plaza where people come to watch a movie, they come to have fun," Carter said.
From now on, she's going to be paying more attention.
"It will make me more aware, when I get out a vehicle, to look around and check to see what's going on," she said.
