Railroad work to cause road closures

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- Some railroad work in Columbia County will soon cause road closures and traffic delays.

CSX representatives said it is possible the crossing may be completed earlier.

Sept. 17 & 18

CSX Railroad will repair the rail system running through Grovetown. Robinson Avenue (Hwy 223) will be closed at the railroad crossing.
Traffic will be rerouted to Jimmy Dyes Parkway or Hwy 221.
The Katherine Street crossing will be open on this day, but trucks are not allowed.

Sept. 19 & 20

Robinson Avenue (Hwy 223) and Katherine Street will be closed.
Traffic will be rerouted to Jimmy Dyes Parkway, Hwy 221, Gordon Hwy and Wrightsboro Rd to 221.

Parham Road to Newmantown Road is a good option for cars. Parham Roadhas a bridge that crosses over the tracks.
