Railroad crossing closures in Harlem to cause traffic

HARLEM, Ga. (WRDW) -- Louisville Road Railroad Crossing (Downtown Harlem) will be closed Monday morning through at least Wednesday afternoon, according to the Columbia County School System website. They suggest drivers use West Boundary Street to cross the tracks on Monday.

Old Louisville Road Railroad Crossing will be open Tuesday morning, before CSX closes West Boundary Street and the remaining railroad crossings in Harlem.

They suggest drivers use Old Louisville Road Crossing Tuesday and Wednesday. This may cause up to a 30-40 minute delay for buses.

The work includes the replacement of rails, ties, and asphalt or concrete aprons up to and thru the crossings.

Here's a list of additional closings next week:

1. Old Louisville Road at Railroad Crossing:
Closed throughout weekend and is scheduled to be re-opened Monday afternoon, Sept. 30

2. Old Augusta Hwy at Railroad Crossing:
Scheduled to be closed Monday morning, Sept. 30, and will remained closed until sometime Wednesday, Oct. 2

3. N Louisville Street at Railroad Crossing:
Scheduled to be closed Monday morning, September 30, and will remain closed until sometime Wednesday, October 2

4. N Bell Street at Railroad Crossing:
Scheduled to be closed Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, and will remain closed until sometime Thursday, Oct. 3

5. W Boundary Street at Railroad Crossing
Scheduled to be closed Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, and will remain closed until sometime Thursday, Oct. 3

6. Sawdust Road at Railroad Crossing
Scheduled to be closed Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, and will remain closed until sometime Thursday, Oct. 3
