AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A fisherman found the body of a black man in the Augusta Canal on Saturday just before noon, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office said.
Richmond County deputies responded to the intersection of 13th Street and Telfair Street after a fisherman called saying there was a body laying face down in the water, the Sheriff's Office said.
It's unknown if foul play is involved, but the Sheriff's Office says there aren't any visible injuries to the subject. The body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
In February, another body was found in the Augusta Canal where foul play was not suspected.
