Commission seal

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- It's the first big step when it comes to Mayor status. The Augusta Mayoral candidates are putting their names on the May ballots.

Anyone running for the office of mayor, commissioner, school board or State Court Judge must pay their qualifying fees by Friday at 12 p.m.

The fee to run for mayor is just shy of $2,000.

Commissioner Alvin Mason and Helen Blocker-Adams will pay their fees and sign an affidavit tomorrow at 9 am at the Board of Elections office.

Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle is also announcing his re-election bid for the district eight commission seat Monday.

He's held that position for about four years. He'll talk to a group of supporters at 12:30 p.m. at the Augusta Corporate Park in Hephzibah.
