Controlled burns scheduled in Barnwell Co., Fort Gordon

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Two controlled burns are scheduled for our area on Thursday.

The U.S. Forest Service-Savannah River is conducting a controlled burn from noon until 5 p.m. The 46-acre burn will happen a half-mile west of the Williston Barricade, according to a news release. Smoke may be visible from the Williston Barricade and Road 8.

A map of this burn and other known burns throughout the state is available on the S.C. Forestry Commission website.

A controlled burn is also scheduled at Fort Gordon. Residents of Burke, Columbia and Richmond counties could see smoke. The burn is scheduled to end by 6 p.m.
