AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW)- One of the world's largest fertilizer companies, with a location in Augusta, announced it will be laying off employees in the U.S. and Canada.

PotashCorp says it will be cutting its workforce by 18%. The company says two employees and an additional number of contract workers at the Augusta plant will be losing their jobs.

The company says demand for fertilizer has been down, and that is why it needs to reduce its workforce. PotashCorp expects to complete the changes by the end of 2013.
