Police say a man carrying a shotgun attempted to rob a New Ellenton store

NEW ELLENTON, S.C. (WRDW) - A masked man carrying a pump action shotgun attempts to rob Todd's Shop and Go on Main St.

The New Ellenton Police Department tells News 12, that as a female clerk was leaving the store for the day, a masked man carrying a shotgun came from around the corner of the building and forced the clerk back inside.

The store's alarm was tripped and the suspect fled the scene. Search dogs were brought in and lead officers to a residence.

Police do not have a suspect in custody at this time. The department is working with surveillance video from the store to identify the suspect.
