Plant Vogtle employees compensated after inaccurate timekeeping

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WRDW) -- A timekeeping issue for 180 current and former Plant Vogtle 1 and 2 security officers has been resolved, according to Southern Nuclear, a subsidiary of Southern Company.

“I am pleased that we were able to successfully identify and resolve this issue,” said Tom Tynan, Plant Vogtle 1 and 2 site vice president. “Our officers play a critical role in protecting the health and safety of our plant, employees and neighbors.”

Southern Nuclear compensated each security officer affected and the total amount paid to the affected officers was approximately was $459,000, according to a release.

The U.S. Department of Labor concluded that there was no intentional wrongdoing on the part of the company, according to a release.
