MILLEN, Ga. (WRDW) -- A hostage situation has ended peacefully, according to the Jenkins County Sheriff's Office.
Multiple agencies including the Jenkins County Sheriff's Office, Millen Police Department and Georgia State Patrol were called to a house near Bay Street around 2:00 p.m., according to Jenkins County Sheriff Robert Oglesby. The Sheriff says Rick Pittman was holding his wife inside the house at gunpoint. Shortly before 6:00 p.m., Pittman turned himself into authorities.
Schools on Barney Avenue in Millen were put on lockdown but began dismissal at normal time Thursday afternoon, according to the Jenkins County Superintendent's secretary.
Parents were asked to go to where the buses are lined up, not the normal pickup area, Millen PD said.
