AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW)--Richmond County deputies arrested 26-year-old Eric James Harlan Monday night in connection with a shooting during a home invasion on Lucas Circle.

Harlan has been charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, first degree burglary and aggravated assault. His arrest comes after spending days in the hospital recovering from a gunshot to the stomach received during the attempted home invasion.

Investigators say it was 7:53 a.m. when the home invasion and shooting happened. Deputies said 26-year-old Eric James Harlan was shot in the stomach and transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office put felony warrants out for Harlan's arrest on charges of aggravated assault, burglary in the first degree and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

A cab driver on scene tells News 12 he dropped a man off at the house and shortly after the man went inside, the cab driver says he heard what sounded like two gun shots. Deputies have not yet confirmed this information.

No one residing in the house will face charges, and Harlan will be arrested once he's released from GRU, the Sheriff's Office said.
