A fire on Hines Street Monday night sent a mother and child to the hospital. (WRDW-TV)

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Fire crews say a child and mother were injured from a structure fire late Monday night.

It happened around 10:10 p.m on the 500 block of Hines Street.

Fire crews say the fire sparked in an apartment complex. It started in the upstairs bedroom of one of the units and was contained.

The child was taken to Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital. The child's condition is not known at this time.

There is no word on what cause the fire. It is under investigation.
