News 12 This Morning says goodbye to Lynnsey with viral video experiment

Call Me Maybe

The News 12 This Morning crew performs to Carly Rae Jepsen's hit song, "Call Me Maybe."

After six years, WRDW-TV News 12 is saying goodbye to Lynnsey Gardner, our current News 12 This Morning anchor. The unenviable overnight hours have truly helped to bolster the friendships among this tight-knit crew. The fun-loving and light-hearted nature of the guys and gals of News 12 This Morning is what has helped to make the program such a viewer and Facebook fan favorite, propelling the newscast to become one of the fastest-growing programs in the entire CSRA.

Gardner, an award-winning anchor and investigative reporter, has anchored the newscast alongside Meterologist Tim Strong for more than two years. As Jessica Dill takes the reins, and other crew members move on this summer, the morning show hopes you can help them all go out with a smile.

After covering everyone else's viral video cover of Carly Rae Jepsen's popular song "Call Me Maybe" on their morning show, from the Justin Bieber cover to the University of Florida students' version and another by the Harvard baseball team, the show decided not only would it be fun to make their own version; it would also be a challenge. Turns out, it was more than just an exciting project -- it is already a favorite memory for all of our crew and our time at News 12.

In just two days and four hours of shooting (thanks to Photographer Israel Butler), one very creative choreographer (Producer Chris Curry) and two editing masterminds (Lynnsey Gardner and Trishna Begam), we give you the News 12 This Morning Call Me Maybe Viral Video Challenge!

So here it is: Just how viral can News 12 This Morning go? It's up to you to watch, laugh, smile, enjoy and most importantly -- share! Stay with News 12 This Morning as other "must-watch" moments unfold until Lynnsey Gardner signs off on May 25 to pursue new opportunities.
