AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Shirley Mozell was beginning to think she would never dig herself out of the money hole in her backyard.
In May, she hired a man from Craigslist to install a pool in her yard.
"I called him, and he was excited and he came right on here from Augusta," she said.
The man told her all he needed to install her pool was half upfront, $1,650.
"He deposited that check like wow," she said.
Just as quickly as the contractor deposited her check, Mozell says he disappeared.
"I texted him, no response. I called him. No response," she said.
Mozell says she believed she had lost her money.
"Yes, I thought it was gone!" she said.
Mozell finally turned to News 12's On Your Side Call for Action Office.
"She made a call and she called me back the same day," Mozzell said.
The volunteer told Mozell to meet the contractor at the bank the next morning.
"I got my money, all of it," she said. "It makes me so grateful that tears come to my eyes because I was so grateful."
Mozell has her money back and found a legitimate pool installer, thanks to Call for Action.
