NEW ELLENTON, S.C. -- A man is dead after an accident in Aiken County Thursday night.

It happened on Whiskey Road between Alpine Drive and Watkins Lane just before 8 p.m.

The Aiken County coroner has identified the victim as 71-year-old Krishna Reddy from Greer, S.C.

Reddy's vehicle became disabled because of a flat tire, and he had to call AAA for assistance.

A service technician was putting away the tools he saw a 2011 KIA Optima driven by 17-year-old James Dyches, of New Ellenton, strike Reddy on the side of the road.

The coroner says Reddy was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple-body trauma.

A toxicology report is pending on Dyches.

This is the 11th fatal crash in Aiken County this year.
