NEW ELLENTON, S.C. (WRDW) -- Doris Bing and her family are living in fear.

"I was up in the kitchen, and I heard these shots! Ping! Ping! I was just afraid. I just stayed in by bedroom, because I knew had I come in this area, I probably would have gotten killed,” says Bing.

Just a couple nights ago, her mobile home on Green Street in New Ellenton was shot up. Six or seven rounds pierced her home; three of the bullets went in through the front of her house and out through the back.

"Oh yeah! I could have easily been in here, because my kids are here all the time in my den. They're playing cards or sitting here eating. Anyone could have gotten killed,” she says.

New Ellenton police got the 'vandalism' call the next morning, but now, it's a case of attempted murder.

Even though a recent News 12 investigation exposed that some aren't happy with their police force, Bing says she's seen improvements.

"They are stepping up. I've got to give it to them. They are stepping up. [Chief of Police] Alesia Parks came out here in did her investigation. They did an excellent job,” Bing says.

Chief Parks says she's actively investigating this case and recovered evidence at the scene, but there are still no leads or suspects.

"For one reason, people are not coming forward and talking. If nobody's saying anything, there's nothing going to be done about it until the next family gets shot up, and then it's going to be too late,” says Bing.

Bing, who's never gone on camera before, says she came to us to give her neighbors and fellow-homeowners a message.

"I want the people of New Ellenton to know that they should come together as a community and try to get some of this stuff stopped, because as long as we sit back and not do anything, these young boys are going to take over the street. They are going to take this town over,” she says.
