COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. -- Both southbound lanes and one northbound lane of Jimmie Dyess Parkway are back open after a natural gas leak.
All northbound and southbound lanes of Jimmie Dyess Parkway in front of Beasley Broadcasting were closed down around 10 a.m.
Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue and the Columbia County Sheriff's Office have been on scene all morning.
The leak started when a contractor laying telephone line hit a gas line this morning just before 10 a.m. The main line is 10 feet deep, so crews had to shore up the hole before they could shut off the main line.
