EVANS, Ga. (WRDW)-- A New York police officer and U.S Army reservist has been arrested in Columbia County accused of beating his ex-girlfriend.
Deputies charged Richard Llewellyn with Aggravated Battery after they say he got aggressive with his girlfriend, 24-year-old Ashley Slack, while she was trying to break up with him.
According to the incident report, Llewellyn struck his girlfriend in the face and grabbed her around the throat with both hands when she tried to leave in her car. The report states Llewellyn then squeezed her until she couldn't breathe and bit her nose, saying, "I've got nothing!"
Investigators say Slack, also a soldier, was able to kick the horn in the car and draw the attention of her roommates who helped pull Llewellyn off of her. Llewellyn then left in his own car.
Deputies eventually picked up Llewellyn on Washington Road later that night. Officers say they observed blood on his fingertips, shorts, and feet.
Llewellyn was then arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery.
