COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- The mystery is solved after debris kept popping up on main roads in Columbia County that had already been cleared.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office identified an out of town door-to-door type tree service as the culprit of a frustrating scam.
Tucker says the service would tell homeowners they'd put the debris by the road and come back later to pick it up. Then, instead of picking it up themselves, they'd call the county contractor's home office hotline and tell them there was more debris on Steven's Creek Road that needed to be picked up.
Tucker says the service is being made to pick up what they left on the roadside.
