AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- We're learning new details by the day in the murder of a local doctor. Charles Mann was murdered a couple of weeks ago, and his body was found in a creek.

Deputies have charged 22-year-old Glenn Riggs II with his murder. The suspects' mother sat down with News 12's Laura Warren to help shed some light on Riggs' past.

Waralene Currie-Riggs says, "The news came on about this doctor and something told me to call, and when I called, they told me he'd been arrested for murder. I hit the ground calling for Jesus."

Deputies had knocked on her door earlier that day, looking for her son, Glenn Riggs II. They didn't tell her why, but she knew it wasn't good.

"I always told Glenn, you can't fool God. You can play with God all you want, but you can't fool him, so what's done in the dark will come out in the light," she said.

It all started when deputies found a car in the woods with blood in the trunk. It belonged to Dr. Charles Mann. They later found his body in a creek, and believe he was murdered at Glenn Riggs' grandmothers' home where Riggs also lived. The murder charge hit Riggs' mother especially hard, because it hit close to home in more ways than one.

"I have prayed for that family, I have prayed for my family because I know what they're going through," she said. "I lost my mother when I was 11 to someone shooting her 5 times in an Aiken's doctors office."

Investigators say Riggs admitted to meeting the victim on a website, and the two had a conversation about having a sexual encounter and decided to meet in person. Those details initially confused Riggs' mother.

"There's nothing in his past that ever indicated Glenn was gay.," she said. "Glenn loved women."

In an interview with investigators, Riggs said it was his intent to 'lure Mann to his residence so that he could rob Mann.' Nothing in the interview alludes to the two ever having sex.

Mrs. Riggs said she filed assault charges against her son the same week the alleged murder happened. She said he punched her in the arm and damaged some property. She also said her son suffers from some mental issues and has been treated at MCG and Serenity in the past.
