Murder suspect acquitted in 2013 Augusta crime

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Charges against a suspect accused of murder in 2013 have now been dropped, according to the Richmond County Superior Clerk of Courts.

Ezra Lay, 41, was acquitted of all charges in court Wednesday. Originally, investigators believed he shot and killed James Marshall on Carrie Street near D'Antignac Street in October, 2013.

Lay had been charged with murder, possession of a firearm during a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A murder suspect from an Oct. 2013 death entered a not guilty plea Friday.

Deputies said Ezra Thyrone Lay, 41, shot and killed James Marshall on Carrie Street at D'Antignac Street around 1:15 Sunday morning.

Lay is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
