Update: Most Richmond County roads now clear, few minor problems reported

January 21, 2014

RICHMOND COUNTY (WRDW)--After several hours of salting and sanding roads with icing issues from the winter storms, road crews say that almost all Richmond County roads are now clear.

Road crews were out late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning--salting several areas that were raising some concerns.

Some hills on Windsor Spring Road and Morgan Road along with several bridges and overpasses were salted overnight to alleviate the possibility of any freezing that may have occurred early Thursday.

For the most part the Augusta Engineering Department says that all roads in the county and free and clear and ready for travel.

There are a few areas with minor problems, use caution when driving in these areas:
-left lane westbound on 1-520 at Hwy 25
-Ice at the bottom of the ramp at Riverwatch Pkwy and I-20 Eastbound -I-520 westbound at Gordon Hwy, small patch of ice under the bridge
