More problems found at River Glen apartments

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Augusta's code enforcement is telling the owners of an apartment complex to clean the place up. News 12 first exposed problems at River Glen when neighbors came forward asking for help.

"It needs to be fixed, especially if they have kids that are sick and elderly in those apartments," said River Glen resident Keon Cody.

Cody has lived in the apartments for months. He says it's not surprising code enforcement took pictures of violations in his apartment complex.

"We're the tenants, and management needs to do their job," Cody said.

Code enforcement agrees that the apartments should be fixed.

"If they continue to have the water problem, they will need to move," said Code Enforcement Manager Pamela Costabile.

Costabile says her department has inspected 25 of the government subsidized apartments. She says they found more than 40 violations.

The property manager called a meeting on Thursday, but when News 12 showed up, it was canceled. We went to her office to talk, but again, the property manager was nowhere to be found.

"The ones that don't want to be here should leave," said River Glen resident Barbra Watkins.

She doesn't have a problem at all with her apartment. Watkins does, however, have a problem with her neighbors complaining.

"All this stuff needs to be redirected on the people that have the problem. Things should not be taken out on people trying to have better lives for their families," Watkins said.

PK Management says it is working with code enforcement to correct all issues.
