Mental evaluation request filed for man accused of strangling girlfriend

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A man's mental status will be questioned as he goes on trial for killing his girlfriend.

News 12 has learned Todd Goff's attorney has filed a mental evaluation request.

Richmond County deputies say Goff strangled Salter to death on the morning of July 7, 2012. Prosecutors say it began as a verbal altercation that turned physical at a home on the 4400 block of Reynolds Street.

Salter's body was found in the woods near Goff's home.

Details are limited at this time, but News 12 will keep you updated on any developments.
