APPLING, Ga. -- The Georgia Department of Transportation is holding a Detour Open House on Tuesday to discuss replacing the bridge over Greenbrier Creek.

The meeting will be held at the North Columbia Elementary School at 2874 Ray Owens Road in Appling.

The project will replace a bridge over Greenbrier Creek on US 221/State Route 47, northeast of Appling, that has been deemed to be structurally deficient. The bridge will be closed during the construction and a detour will be in place using Ray Owens Road and State Road 150.

Anyone interested in learning more about the project and the impact on the area should attend. There will be displays to view and you will be encouraged to express any concerns with representatives of the DOT.

Handouts will be available at the DOT website.
