AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Richmond County School Board has tentatively adopted a millage rate, which will require a property tax increase of 5.16 percent, according to a news release.
All citizens are invited to a public hearing on the tax increase on July 31 at the County's Board of Education building, 864 Broad Street, Augusta, Ga. at noon and 6 p.m.
A third and final public hearing on this tax increase will be held at the same building on Aug. 8 at 4 p.m.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 19.982 mills, an increase of 0.98 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 19.002 mills, according to the news release.
The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $30.52 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $300,000 is approximately $104.64.
