MARTINEZ, Ga. -- A 41-year-old Martinez woman accused of killing a 22-month-old baby was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter Friday night.

Lawanda Tripp's case began again Tuesday after last month's trial ended in a mistrial because of a hung jury.

According to Tripp's attorney, Vic Hawk, the jury deliberated for four hours Friday before acquitting her of the murder charge but found her guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

Tripp was sentenced to 10 years in jail but will get three years of credit for time already served.

Tripp is accused of killing Teaira Hall when she was caring for her at an Avery Landing home in Martinez in 2009. Deputies were called to the home because the child was not breathing.
