COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. -- A former Columbia County commissioner's daughter has taken a plea deal to avoid jail time.
News 12 was in the courtroom as a judge sentenced Marlin Dean to seven years of probation. The plea deal comes after she stole jewelry from her adopted mother's home over the summer.
Along with the probation, Dean must also pay a $500 fine and $17,100 in restitution.
Columbia County investigators say she told the jewelry from the home in Harlem while her adopted mother was out of town.
We are told prosecutors will "nolle pros" a second woman, Eva Nevarez. Columbia County investigators say she was caught on camera, but prosecutors decided not to pursue the case against her.
