NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- A man is wanted in North Augusta in connection to multiple car break-ins.

Toby LaCarter, 34, is accused of breaking into cars in parking lots at Riverview Park.

LaCarter is said to drive a gray Dodge Ram with a single cab that has a "for sale" sign in the bottom right corner of the front windshield. He is a black male with cornrow braids and a short beard who is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 155 pounds.

An officer was called to the park on Monday afternoon and initiated a traffic stop as the suspected vehicle drove west on Woodlawn Avenue. According to the incident report, LaCarter leaned out the window and asked the officer if he was the one being stopped. The officer says he saw LaCarter lean toward the passenger seat of the vehicle, which is when the officer took cover before witnessing LaCarter driving away.

After the officer started to pursue LaCarter, the officer claims LaCarter was speeding and disregarding stop signs and traffic lights. The chase ended when the vehicle crossed the state line.

If you have any information, call the North Augusta Department of Public Safety at (803) 279-2121.
