AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Carl Wentworth is using his feet to honor veterans in our country by walking from Boston to California.

The Massachusetts man said he walked south to try an get out of the snow and passed through Augusta over the weekend.

"I stopped in Aiken because my feet were aching," Wentworth said.

He said he brings everything he needs in a rolling cart and since he can't roll along interstates, he follows smaller state roads.

He documents his journey on a Facebook page called "Walking for Heroes." He's hoping to raise money for wounded warriors and other organizations that help veterans.

When it comes to quitting, he said "considering who and what I'm doing it for, giving up is not an option"

To keep things on the cheaper side, he said he pitches a tent every night for shelter.

His journey started on veterans day and he hopes to finish his walk by the Fourth of July.
