AIKEN, S.C. -- The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is looking into a fatal shooting that happened early Wednesday morning near Jack Jones Street.
One of the victims said he was sitting in his car at the corner of Balltown Drive and Jack Jones Street when his car was shot at multiple times around 1 a.m.
The driver said his car wouldn't start, but as soon as he got it to start, he hit the gas. That's when he says he noticed his passenger, 27-year-old Thomas Octavian Johnson, was slumped over. He drove Johnson straight to the hospital.
Johnson was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday. Investigators say one of the bullets lacerated Johnson's brain.
No suspects have been named at this time.
Investigators say although the case is in its early stages, the incident is believed to be drug related.
