DEARING, Ga. (WRDW) -- A man is in critical condition after a truck and a wheelchair collide.
According to Georgia State Patrol, the wreck happened on Adams Chapel Road in Dearing, Ga. around 11 p.m. Friday night.
Officers say the wheelchair was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of the road when the truck and wheelchair hit.
The investigation is preliminary, but officers say it appears the wheelchair was at fault. If that is determined to be the case, they say the man could be charged with "Pedestrian Crash" for being on the roadway illegally.
GSP is not releasing the name of the man in the wheelchair until more family is notified, but they say he is in critical condition at GRU.
Police say there is some indication the man in the wheelchair could have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs. They are still investigating that.
The driver of the pickup, Tyler Troisi, was not injured. Officers say he will not be charged.
