AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- An Augusta man was found guilty for killing a woman after she was ejected in a March 2013 wreck.
Michael Johnston was driving on Morningside Drive in Augusta when deputies said he lost control of his SUV and crashed into a tree. Katherine Gilmer, 38, was thrown from the car and died at the scene.
Johnston was found guilty to homicide by vehicle, driving with suspended license, failure to maintain lane, driving too fast for conditions and violation of open container law.
He was sentenced to six years in prison and four years probation with at least a $1,000 fine.
