AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW) -- A man is dead after falling from a cherry picker on Monday.

Coroner Tim Carlton says 46-year-old Joseph Benjamin Lord was working in a cherry picker near 37 Augusta Road trimming a tree that had been damaged by lightning when part of the tree fell over, hitting him and the bucket.

Lord was knocked out of the bucket and fell 35 to 50 feet before hitting the ground.

He was rushed to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead around 6 p.m.

Carlton says the autopsy shows Lord died from internal injuries.

Lord was working for Ennis Tree Service at the time of the accident.
