AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- The Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team caught a wanted suspect on Wednesday.

Leslie Alan Murphy, 37, was wanted on five outstanding warrants for violation drug distribution law, the Aiken County Sheriff's Office said. Murphy ran away from deputies on Wednesday morning near Church Road. Within 20-minutes, the bloodhounds found Murphy in the woods

Murphy was taken to the Aiken County Detention Center and charged.

"This arrest, like so many others, was successful because of the joint efforts from the initial responding deputies creating a perimeter to having a well-trained tracking team," Sheriff Michael Hunt said. "Cases like this shows the positive impact of information sharing between concerned citizens and law enforcement."

The Bloodhound Tracking Team is comprised of deputies and officers from Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Aiken Department of Public Safety and North Augusta Department of Public Safety.
