(WRDW)--'Want to go farther?'--words faculty at Southern Wesleyan University in North Augusta live by.

The school provides opportunities director Jason Norton tells me many in our area aren't aware of.

"We are kind of the hidden gem here in education here in the CSRA right off the beaten path here in North Augusta," Jason Norton, Southern Wesleyan University's regional director.

He says SWU provides a perfect option for a certain kind of student.

"SWU is geared toward the non-traditional student," he explained. "We are geared toward working adults, folks that work during the day."

Being a university geared toward that working student, SWU offers a little more flexibility with classes here on campus and online.

Now, they're offering a new master's program.

"We do have a new MBA program starting at the beginning of the year," said Norton.

A Master of Business for professionals, led by professionals.

"It's geared toward that working professional who's looking to make the next step in their career," said Norton. "This could help them because our instructors work the industry during the day and they come here at night and teach at night. So, they have that real world experience under their belt."

The new program comes with the same financial aid opportunities larger universities offer and Norton tells me they also cater to a major population of folks in the area.

"We ware a military friendly university, so if somebody is active military or their spouse is military we do use the tuition assistance benefits," he said. "Also, if you're a Veteran you can use your Veterans benefits here."

So for the student looking to advance--

"We are here in the area to help you," said Norton. "Not a lot of people know that we're here, but we're ready to make that change with you as you take the next step in your career." ¤

If you're thinking of enrolling, there's a way to get your application fee waived. SWU is participating in Toys for Tots, so if you bring a gift for donation--they'll waive your application fee.
