Augusta,Ga---Augusta National is teaming up with the PGA for a new program aimed at growing golf. The new Drive, Chip and Putt contest will allow kids to play on the same course as the pro's.

It's a move Masters officials say will bring golf to the younger generation.

Local kids in our area are signing up and hitting the practice fields. "When my dad came home from the military he showed me how to play golf. We found the First Tee of Augusta and came here," said Alonzo Miller.

9-year-old Alonzo Miller and 13-year-old Michael Dent know golf. You are looking at current and past First Tee Season Champs.

"We played at the River Club in South Carolina," said Golfer Michael Dent.

"I am good and I really like to play," said Miller.

They are the first of many to sign up for the Drive, Chip and Putt championship. They'll compete locally and regionally with other boys and girls ages 7 to 15.

"Drive, Putt and Chip is like a challenging game. It's going to be really fun if I have a lot of people going against me. I like competition," said Miller.

"It's a great opportunity because some people are unfortunate. They get it at a late notice. It might be to late for them," said Dent.

First Tee of Augusta is one of 110 youth golf programs nationwide that will be participating. The top 88 players from around the country will play Augusta National next year, the Sunday before the Masters.

"The most difficult part will be the putting. It's the main part of golf."
