AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Boston Marathon was scene of chaos, confusion and even death in the seconds after two explosions Monday afternoon.

Dr. Michael Rogers heard the first bomb. He finished the race a minute before it detonated and says he's thanking God he's alive to talk about it.

"It was about a minute after I crossed the finish line," Rogers said.

Rogers crossed the finish lined exactly at 4:08:24. The first explosion was at 4:09:46. One minute and 22 seconds later, and he might not have been able to talk News 12 Monday evening.

"I heard one explosion and then looked back and saw basically the fire and smoke. Then we were still looking at it and saw the second explosion. I was about to put on my coat and pants, and someone came running down the streets and said, 'Run,'" Rogers said.

Rogers and his wife, who also ran the race, eventually made it safely to their hotel.

However, they aren't the only ones from the area who ran in the marathon.

"There was two of us from the Monday metro group. Tina Stutt and Barbara Rose," said a team member.

Initially, the running club in Augusta was only communicating with the two via Facebook.

"Actually did finally get a chance to talk to them, and they're fine and everything is good," said a team member who spoke with both of the women.

There were hectic moments for everyone involved -- and a super close call for Rogers.

One that he says gave him flashbacks of a previous attack.

"It was 9/11 in my mind. We all turned, and even though we had done a 26-mile marathon, the adrenaline kicked in and all ran down the street," Rogers said.
