Lightning hits Richmond Co. transformer, causes outages

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- Jefferson Energy crews say power has been restored after they replaced a transformer hit by lightning around 8 p.m. Monday.

Approximately 650 customers were without power in southern Richmond County and northern Burke County.

Jefferson Energy says the transformer that was hit is at their South Richmond County substation, which is on the corner of Bath Patterson Road and U.S. 1.
