AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A bidder purchased Horton Smith's Masters green jacket for $682,229.45, according to the online bidding site Green Jacket Auctions.

The jacket was sold by Green Jacket Auctions of Denville, N.J. The winning bidder was not identified.

Smith's jacket, a 43 long, was presumed to be lost, but last month the auction house was contacted by one of Smith's relatives. The green jacket had been hanging in a closet for decades.

There were 37 bids on the jacket. The bid started off at $1,000.

According to the site, Bobby Jones' jacket was purchased for $310,000 in 2011.
